Terri H. Odom- Attorney
Terri Hoover Odom is a wife and mother of four children, and step-mom to four more! She lives in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana and earned her Juris Doctor in 1985 from Loyola University in New Orleans. Since 1989, Terri has completed well over 500 adoptions. During her years of practice, she has seen first hand the sorrows of infertility and the joys of adoption: from helping birth parents in the delivery room, caring for a new born, or comforting adoptive parents during the waiting period. She believes that choosing adoption is one of the most loving gifts a birth mother can give her baby.
Professionally, Terri has been a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys since 1998. Currently, she is the only adoption attorney in North Louisiana privy to this membership. The Academy is an association dedicated to the highest standards of practice in the field of adoption law.
Emily M. Debnam- Associate Attorney
Emily Debnam is Terri’s daughter and associate. Emily lives in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana and earned her Juris Doctor in 2014 from Loyola Law School in New Orleans. Emily grew up watching her mother practice adoption law and is delighted to have joined her in practice. While in law school Emily clerked for an adoption attorney in New Orleans to continue to gather experience in this niche area of the law. Now settled in Baton Rouge and running the Baton Rouge office location, Emily is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, BRBA Family Law Section, and BRBA Young Lawyers Section.
Jackie Scott- Legal Assistant
Jackie Scott has been working with Terri since June of 2002. She has a passion for adoption and is vital to our office. In November of 2014 Jackie received the Individual Adoption Advocate Award from the Department of Children and Family Services. She was recognized by the state for her diligent work which ensures that the adoption process runs smoothly for adoptive families.
Donna Cooper- Assistant, Baton Rouge Office
Donna has worked with Emily in the Baton Rouge office about a year and a half. Prior to that, she was a litigation legal assistant in Dallas, Texas for quite a few years. "I am enjoying getting familiar with the adoption process. It is rewarding to be a part of helping singles and couples fulfill their dreams of becoming parents!" She considers herself fortunate to be in the position to also help birth mothers make their way through the adoption process. Donna's hobbies are card making, embroidery, and reading - and playing with her 6 great nieces and nephews. And yes, they are GREAT!
